This image, full of vibrant colours of a multitude of tightly packed dwellings, stood out as the worthy winner in this contest. We get a good wide view, but are still close enough in to see details on the different buildings with washing hanging out on the flat roofs etc. The image looks to have been captured in strong sunlight, but that has served you well to make the colours vivid without being over-saturated. Congratulations on your winning image.
I am sure this view gives a very different look to how these streets would appear if walking beside these houses at ground level, but it is a fine perspective and allows the scene to take on quite an abstract feel, which I like. The snow partially covering ths rooftops brings a lightness and brightness to the scene, which otherwise is filled with a limited palette of terracottas and greys. Congratulations on your second place finish.
This black and white image of a white Spanish village really stood out to me. I love that it has been converted to black and white as this creates a more abstract look, with the darker shapes of the roofs and little windows standing out. Captured from a little distance away enables plenty of properties to be squeezed into the frame, which accentuates the properties being fairly tightly packed. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
I love the prespective of this image, capturing the warmly coloured rooftops of these tightly packed lakeside dwellings. We are far enough out to see a great selection of properties to get a real feel for the place, but are also close enough in to pick up lots of interesting details in the architecture. The lighting and colouring is lovely, conveying the warmth of the sunlight. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.
To people living in single storey dwellings, in rural areas or even low rise apartment blocks, viewing an apartment buildings such as this can be rather dizzying. We are close enough in to be able to explore each little individual dwelling, and wonder about the stories of the families dwelling here. The viewpoint gives the viewer a real feeling of the density and almost claustrophobic feeling with apartments on at least three sides, and filling the frame totally with the subject adds real impact. Congratulations on your third place finish.

In this contest I would like to see your photos of high density residential buildings where many neighbouring dwellings are packed tightly together. Photos can be from any part of the world showing any type of residential dwellings, from city apartment blocks to suburban housing estates. It needs to be clear the buildings are residential, not office blocks etc. Entries can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your images.
