A great image, perfectly capturing this charming church along with it's stunning waterside setting. Shooting angle works well, as it looks to have been captured from a viewpoint lower than eye level, which makes the most of the wonderful tussocks of grass to give interest to the foreground. So many people at the moment appear to feel the need to replace the sky in their image, usually making the scene look unnatural with a sky that really does not match the lighting of the rest of the scene, but maybe pleasing the crowd, especially if a fake sunset is added, but here everything looks wonderfully natural, and in my opinion all the better for it. Great image. Well done on your top ten placing.
A striking capture of an equally striking cathedral. The architectural style maybe not to everyone's tastes, but it certainly has impact. The image description describes various editing processes and use of a polarising filter, but everything has been done sympathetically and with care to ensure nothing looks overdone nor overshadowing the actual subject with special effects. The black and white conversion has been superbly handled. Congratulations on your winning image.
This building does not really make for the most charming or attractive church but it is the simplicity of the building, no doubt repurposed from another use, that adds to the success of the image. The passing cyclist elevates the shot, adding human interest to the bland architecture. Conversion to black and white suits the subject. Great image, well done on your top ten placing.

In this contest I would like to see your photos showing the exterior of a religious building. Your image can show any religious building from any faith, religion or country. Examples include churches and cathedrals, mosques, temples and synagogues. You could capture the building within its surrounding landscape, or maybe focus more on the architectural details. Whichever you decide, it should be obvious that the building is for the purpose of worship, and the images must be captured from the outside of the building. Photos can be in colour or black and white. I look forward to seeing your entries.
