Seafront Architecture

October 2023

I think this is a fascinating entry under the contest's theme of seafront architecture. We often pass these handmade dens / bonfire structures and take as part of the landscape, however, I'm happy to see this as an architectural form within this contest.

Congratulations! I like the tones used here, and thank you for mentioning the production details behind this. This has a 35 mm film quality to this, especially with the colour grading, I encourage you to try Kodak film on a future shoot!

I'm always looking for alternative approaches to landscape photography, and you have delivered that with this entry. A detail frame offering more to the narrative here, with the classic faded seaside glamour. I suggest editing the symmetry here to align with the shutter detail.

**This contest is open to photographers ranked between 251 and 1000 in this week’s Leaderboard.** The buildings that we’ve constructed along our seafronts have distinctive themes, often not seen inland. Much of our seafront is dedicated to pleasure, and so our piers, fish and chip shops, amusement arcades and beach huts have been built to excite and serve us as we take a break by the coast. The coast is also home to sea voyagers, fishermen and other workers, and lighthouses, ferry terminals, and old fishing villages have come from that long history.
