The most complete entry into the competition that really showcases the relationship between driver and machine. The clean lines and stunning technique allow us the audience a clear view of this relationship that is only possible because the photographer have placed themselves in the ideal position to make the image. The colors work well and the blue of the racing automobile stands out against the blur of greens in the background. If I could change one thing I may have looked at increasing the contrast on the blue of the car so it was a slightly deeper saturation to stand out a little more but that is such a minor point in this well captured image. Congratulations.
This stunning graphic black and white tight crop of the door and reflections in the automobiles window was so close to my top 10. The sleek modern door handle and frame work so well and create a contrast with the buildings reflected opposite. The framing is beyond reproach in what is a stunning and visually engaging image. Really well done. It would be really interesting to make a series in this style.
This stunning side on view of a classic slice of Americana is beautifully constructed within the frame of this picture. The unique shape of the automobile really comes alive with the driver, who could also be a chauffeur with peaked cap and the wonderful outstretched arm of the passenger, maybe waving to a crowd. The use of black and white gives a sense of nostalgia which is fitting given the date of the vehicle and the positioning of the two rows of houses really frame the automobile perfectly. The shadows on the road and telegraph lines only add to the photograph which is beyond reproach. Stunning. Very well done.

The punched up vibrant colors of the Lamborghini work se well against the grey pattern of the floor and offer a view of the soft and beautiful design and curves of the car against the road. This stunning close up crop of a part of a beautifully contoured automobile could not be bettered. Everything that should be included within the frame is. The quality of light hitting and reflecting back in the mirrored wheel hubs is perfect as are the highlights created around the curves of the car. The deep black of the tyre works well against the color of the vehicle and adds depth to the image. Could an automobile be more beautiful? Stunning.
This stunning image was so close to my top 10. The car perfectly fits into its surrounds. I can see the neighbors looking down from there bedroom windows admiring this stunning automobile. The use of black and white has accentuated the graphic lines of the design of the vehicle and fit in perfectly with the date of the houses. A great angle only adds to the dramatic visuals in this superb photograph.
This in your face dramatic technical rendering of a photograph fits perfectly with the subject and how it has been photographed. The vintage slice of American automobile has been transformed visually into a scene from a movie. The shinning deep reds and curves of the car stand out against the equally powerful golden stone work of the building behind. The crop and camera angle add to the dramatic feel of the image. It is intense and alive and takes me back to the cops and robbers shows I watched as a child on TV. I'm singing a theme tune to myself whilst looking at this image. It really did stand out from the crowd. Well done.
A unique picture that really stood out from the competition. We get everything in this image. The sense of freedom, space and the open road ahead of us. The high camera position traveling at speed with the Honda Civic allows us that sense of what is in front of the automobile whilst the blur gives that movement which is very effective and well controlled within the frame. The slight tilt really opens up the space and the exposure is perfect in difficult conditions with the snow surrounding the scene. A contemporary interpretation of the brief that works very well. This quiet but beautifully observed and photographed interior of a vehicle shines in its simplicity and quality of technique. The interior shows us everything that is needed to make a ride in this car comfortable. We see the gleaming chrome door handle and window wind down handle which are wonderfully designed and the orange leather style panels on the door work so well against the velour covered seats. It could only be an automobile whilst giving us little else to view. Like the interior itself, this photograph is beautiful and given how little information there is, I can still look at this image for a long time. That is a skill. Lovely.
One of the very many images of the famed vehicles found in Cuba within this competition, but this really stood out as it talks about more than just the vehicle but the reasons for why such automobiles exist. The inclusion of the mural of rightly or wrongly now iconic figure of Che Guevara tells us where the image is taken without the need for further details. This also explains how the vehicles came to happen with the embargo from the USA, so the Cubans started to join parts together to keep them working. This close up of a classic shape has seen better days but the camera angle is perfect and the rust and reddish colors work well against the monochrome of the mural behind. Not just a classic picture but a history lesson all in one. Great capture.

Whilst 1886 is credited as its birth year, courtesy of German inventor Carl Benz, it wasn’t until the Ford Model T rolled off the lines in 1908 that automobile ownership for the masses started in earnest. Meet the expert judge
One of few entries surprisingly into the competition that directly or indirectly focuses on how the automobile functions within major cities today. This overview of traffic congested trying to get in and escaping from the city, perfectly shows us the need for rethinking how we use the automobile and how roads are constructed in the modern world. The soft evening colors are punctuated by the lights of the cars which give a a sense of urgency of what needs to be done. This superb image asks us questions - which is what powerful photographs do. Well done.
This stunning almost 'Blade Runner' neon side view of a speeding yellow taxi, really showcases perfectly the idea of travel across an urban city at night. We see the blur of the buildings going past as the photographer has used a great panning technique to keep the car central and sharp within the frame as we get a sense of the noise and vibrancy of the location of where the picture was taken. The vivid colors work well especially the shine and lines within the water reflecting the taxi and buildings in the road. A great capture. Well done.
