Sometimes, simple is best and this is a good demonstration. The room on its own is simple but cosy and the view of the mountains beyond is great but on its own would just be a mountain shot with pylons on it. The combination by using differing exposures and blending together to place the darker indoors with the lighter mountain scene provides us with this stunning result.
When this popped up in the judging panel I just went "OMG that's fabulous" and as someone that has taken many interior shots I was filled with awe and jealousy, which is a good emotion when you are judging and not competing. The B&W cancels out the problems with mixed lighting conditions, the high dynamic range copes with the inevitable high contrast and preserved the mid tones. The post processing has created an image sharper than a surgeons scalpel. The linear perspective is spot on and to top it off it is a fabulous room. A deserved win that has inspired me to work harder! When I checked to see the author I was delighted to find it was Dave Unwin, who has inspired me since joining Photocrowd and has now done it again with such an original take on this theme!
This architectural creation is fascinating in its quirky curved design that grabs your attention even if I doubt that I would enjoy spending long in its rather claustrophobic surroundings. It relies entirely on natural lighting so the window and upper floor create enough light to hold the mid-tones and allow a glimpse into the cars parked beyond. With such a wide angle it can often distort the picture but this one has held together nicely. Great shot!
Urbex photography is the urban exploration of the abandoned world and the images produced were my inspiration into interior photography. This is a classic example which feeds your imagination to piece together the past glories that made the room once cosy and inhabited. The wide angle and linear distortion add impact and chaos to the framework which breaks convention yet works well in this instance.

For this competition I am looking for your best shots of a room interior. It can be grand or simple, historical or modern. However I will NOT be considering large open spaces such as Cathedrals, shopping malls or huge public interiors, so think more in the line of a living space.

This is a fabulous documentary shot of a bar room. The dynamic range gives plenty of detail both inside and out through the window. The Black and white conversion declutters the inevitable array of colours and allows the viewer to concentrate on the characters inside. For me it only failed from a top spots by not cropping the bottom blurred area which detracts from the rest of the scene. Great shot though!
