Congratulations and thank you for this winning shot. The whole composition kept me fascinated. A visual connection between the lines on the cat’s fur, with the lines on the wooden box, as well as, the clever tonal match overall to this entry. This number one ranking testifies to the notion that ‘the simple things in life are often the best’. This was what your entry gave me of this capture. The rays of light were soothing not only to the cat but it combined symmetry so subtle in the overall composition. This created visual balance to the shot. Quite simply for me it ticked all the boxes!(excuse the pun). This entry visually shows the clever use of time, contrast and comparison of two objects connecting with a desirable place of comfort and security. To one viewer (me) at least, this humble ‘box’ narrative in visual form, gave insight and connectives which we often dismiss. This wooden box was all this furry feline needed to feel safe, secure and trust enough in the world around, as a place in the sun to sleep. Great work!
Congrats on receiving second place. This shot was eye catching and pleasant to the optic nerve. A box some may say? really? and I did consider some critics may question this but with the strong contrast, cleverly it kept drawing me back as a viewer. The whole box itself and then the little ‘window boxes’ within the overall shot, still satisfies the brief.
Well done and congrats with making it into the top ten. This contest was such a hard one to judge as there simply was so many choices, hence why I have so many in the commended ranks! The way this photo was framed by pink, matching the pink flowers and the window box right in the centre simply breathes femininity at its best. Totally love this photo for so many reasons. The contrast of the colours is striking, grabs your attention and the different textures were highlighted too by the lighting. Congrats for making it into the number ten spot!
What a beautiful sight for sore eyes and a clever way to present healthy fruit in each of their boxes! To me this clever capture highlights the way each box can present an overall piece of art, simply by the presentation alone. Highlights for me were: *Colour of each box and fruit displayed *Lighting *Positioning of the fruit and the boxes *Overall presentation of the image This is an example of clever contrasting colour and the usefulness of what boxes display. Congrats a great image!

This contest is for your photos of boxes. You can show boxes of any size, colour and material but it will basically be a container with a flat base and sides, typically square or rectangular and often have a lid. Try to use your imagination and showcase your images either with things in the box, an empty box or with an unusual appearance on the outside etc. The main focus should be the box itself. Photos can be in colour or black and white but no nudity please. I hope you have fun with the contest.
