Caroline Fraser

Abstract Landscape Photographer

My work is a means to express the fragility and transience of life; a very personal response to recovery from illness. I work predominantly in wild open places such as the highlands of Scotland, New Zealand's south island and around Camber Sands and Dungeness. Using multiple exposure and in-camera movement alongside conventional techniques I express the moods and emotions that I experience in the outdoor world. I will more often photograph the land beneath my feet than the bigger picture, taking pleasure from intimate details in the landscape.

I value of the sentiments of John Muir, the Scottish adventurer who said "everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul ".
