Mark Banks

Landscape photographer and photography tutor

A landscape photographer for many years, Mark is inspired by the dramatic terrain of the moors, coastline and dales that can be easily reached from the town in North Yorkshire where he lives.

Having started his career using only digital equipment, Mark has spent the last seven years attempting to perfect taking pictures with a detail-enhancing, entirely-manual view camera. Although technically unforgiving, this piece of kit has helped cement his interest in images that showcase the best of nature's shapes, surfaces and textures.

Alongside his professional practice Mark teaches practical landscape photography and post-processing. As well as running workshops and tutoring on a one-to-one basis, Mark also teaches at Joe Cornish Galleries, a centre in Northallerton that has become a hub for people in the North Yorkshire area who are interested in landscape photography.
