John Aldred is a self taught portrait and animal photographer based in Lancaster, England. Over the past couple of decades, he's tried wildlife, automotive, celebrity events, product photography, and a variety of other genres. It can sometime take a while to figure out what it was one is really passionate about. For the last 8 years, John has been almost exclusively photographing people in the wild and animals in the studio. He's also been known to teach location flash lighting with individual and small group sessions from time to time.
Early last year, John's photography took a bit of an unexpected turn. He went from shooting full time to writing about photography for DIYPhotography.net. As much fun as working with clients on location is, it doesn't always leave a lot of time for personal projects. Even when the time does become available, if one shoots and edits all week, the last thing you really want to do is be shooting and editing on your days off. Making the switch to writing has allowed John to focus on those personal photography projects and push himself further.
